Gone on Vacation

I know I haven’t posted anything lately. I have been lacking inspiration lately. We are on a mini vacation and hopefully that will help to put me back on track.

Much Needed R&R

My guy and I just got back from a very much needed long weekend at our property. I have been stressing a lot lately at work. We have some decisions that we need to make and thought that our property would be the best place to put things into prospective.

Manual labor always seems to be a good head clearer and there is plenty to be had at the property. We demolished a shed that was an eyesore and that we have for years been threatening to tear down.

What little was left of the shed.

I wore this outfit while helping take down the shed. I know that the average woman would not wear a skirt while doing dirty manual labor... LOL I never said I was average. :-)

OLD NAVY t-shirt and STEVE & BERRY skirt and Wellies
When we went to the dump to dispose of the contents of the shed the lady who works there told me I had great taste and admired my Wellies. On the way back to the property we stopped at the corner store to pickup some items and once again my Wellies were the topic of conversation. Who knew that they would make such a fashion impact in the country???

Purchased at the Farm & Tractor store last fall.
Hope everyone had a restful weekend.

Old Route 123

I'm wearing a tie-dyed dress that I picked up last summer at the Virginia Wine Festival. The dress had braided spaghetti straps that seemed to be way too long. I chopped the straps off in the back, knotted the ends and now tie it like a halter… I'm loving the dress way more this way.

H&M straw fedora hat from the guy's department

We have an old abandon road in my neighborhood and my guy and I decided to take a Sunday walk down it. To get to it from this end of town we have to cross the river on a foot bridge.

At the end of the foot bridge there is a little waterfalls on the left side.

This is actually a photo of the falls from last winter. Today the
area around the falls was packed with families trying to get photos with moms and kids.

On the river side of the road there is a long stone wall that is starting to fall into disrepair.

Funny how out of 100 pictures I will have my eyes closed in 90% of them.

And, on the opposite side of the road are cliffs of rocks.

The road is short but a very beautiful walk year round.

Hope all moms had a special day today with their family.
Happy Mother's Day!

Hazy Shade of Lavender

On Saturday my guy and I went on a thrifting trip to Richmond Virginia. I like thrifting in Richmond because the prices seem to be better than in Northern Virginia (Washington DC area). I found some fantastic things and will blog about them at another time.

Today wasn’t very warm, or sunny for that matter, but I just love my lavender flowered dress and couldn’t wait to wear it. The whole time it was in the washer I had an urge to yank it out. It is made of silk and I was positive, as it was washing, I was ruining it. I washed it on delicate and hung it to dry overnight… and, thankfully it turned out just fine.

BREAK'N LOOSE dress from Goodwill for $5.99

ITIALIAN MAKER shoes

A new dress always makes me happy!

I love hats and always have. They just
add an extra pop to an outfit.

H&M hat from the men's department $7.99

I bought this and another hat from the men's department for only $7.99 each. In the women's department the hats in similar styles average $14.99 and up. They were embellished with flowers and feminine ribbons but I can easily change that out on my hats. However, I do like the masculine look of the hat with the very feminine dress.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Easter Sunday

Today was such a gorgeous day that my guy and I decided to walked down to our little town.

Charming Store Front

Little Stairwell to the Gallery

View of the Occoquan River

Amazing how empty the street looks in this photo... there were a
lot of people walking around in their Easter finery checking out the little
shops and/or waiting for dinner reservations at the waterfront restaurant.

Borrowed my guy's hat and wearing a thrifted silk
dress (GILLIAN) from Goodwill that I picked up for $5.99

At a table in front of  our local bakery/coffee shop called SUGAR BUZZ.
They just opened about a month ago.

Checking out my purchases (soy candle & triple milled soap) from PEACOCK ROAD HOME & GIFT.

My guy made my necklace for me. He is so handsome and handy.
Hope everyone had a wonderful Easter!

Happy Friday!

All week I have had scheduled post because I'm putting in 14 and 15 hour days working our annual conference. Next week things will finally be back to what I know as normal.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.
